World of Warcraft Item Upgrades
The upgrade of an item can be used to improve the stats of an item. Depending on the type of upgrade you choose, it can boost the rarity of an item, or its Mark Level, and also boost other stats.
Upgrades to gear in The War Within requires a specified number of Flightstones and Crests Each item comes with an upgrade track. Each upgrade increases the cost of the next one by a specific amount.
Item Level
When an item gets upgraded, its base stats improve in value. The value is the sum of all its leveled up benefits (attack magic attack, attack defense). Upgrades can be expensive dependent on who you employ and what you decide to do. This is due to the variety of perks that need to be altered to upgrade an item.
It can also be used as a gating requirement when waiting for dungeons, raids and scenarios. It can also be used as a gating requirement while waiting for dungeons, scenarios, and raids, as well as to limit the amount of PvP gear that a player can wear (since PvP is capped at the lower levels). The average level of an item can be found on the character sheet.
Using the item level will allow players to compare the potency of gear when choosing to buy or sell. It's a sign of the damage and its quality. The item level can also be used to compare items when evaluating the inventory of a vendor.
The item level can be seen by pressing the ALT key on PC or using the left stick (L3) on XB1 and PS4. The item will be displayed with its full description, including ilvl. You can also locate it by hovering over an item and typing /itemlevel into chat.
There are various theories about how the item level calculation is carried out. One theory is that the item level is a number derived from a formula that calculates the value of an item's stats are worth. It takes into account the fact that different perks have different worth and sockets have gems that increase the overall value of the item. This can result in a calculated amount for the item's ilvl, which is usually quite close to Blizzard's actual level of the item.
However, this isn't the only factor which can affect an item's ilvl since the level of the region the item is dropped into can change the value of its stats, for instance by adding an additional level to its crit rating or haste rating. This means that items dropped at higher levels will have higher the ilvl than items from lower level instances.
Item Stats
The stats of an item can determine the fate of an item for players. The game makes use of a lot of them in different ways to encourage players to play with multiple weapons, and also to stop one weapon from being "the most effective." The base stats of a weapon are boosted by the weapon's stat modification which are then increased by the player's skill.
The upgrades to items add by increasing certain stats on the item. The rarity of an item determines the cost of upgrading. An item that is white or grey for instance, will only be upgraded one time however, items with rare tiers may be upgraded multiple times with more expensive costs.
Another way to change the stats of an item is through affixes. These are special stat boosts that can be added to an item by the player, and are available in all shapes and sizes. Affixes can provide the item additional damage, add a special ability to the item (such as reviving the dead or cutting down the cooldowns) or make the item unique by putting an additional name to the item.
All affixes can be currently re-rolled by selecting them in the upgrade window pressing the green button. This process will cost the player a certain amount of gold as well as items that can be added to the upgrade gauge in the same way as other options for rerolling.
Players can choose to upgrade an item with a specific stat, or reroll attaches. The range of stats determined by the item's level. However every item will include at least one stat within the range, unless they are a unique item, or the item is a God Roll from a boss in a raid.
Another thing that could change is the option to upgrade equipment without having to roll the attaches, or select which stats to enhance. But as with base equipment, this would need to be carried out on a per-item basis, and the item compare interface wouldn't show all possible stats gained or lost at once.
Item Luck
The Luck stat of a player can increase the probability of obtaining items, the properties that are generated by loot, and the intensity of these properties. However, it doesn't directly affect damage or ability to upgrade item s. It gives the player the chance to upgrade their equipment earlier in the game. This is especially advantageous in early game runs since players tend to prioritize the scaling of weapons and defenses over raw damage gains.
Luck can also boost the chance of upgrading items at the Blacksmith. This is not to be confused with the Blacksmith's overall chance of upgrading, which increase with each new level of item. It is also possible to be increased with the use of anti-materials, such as a Scroll of Strength and a Jewel of Blessing.
Armor, shields and weapons can be made or spawn using the Luck property, which has an initial value of 40. These items can be enhanced with golden ingots or spined leather (depending on the material they are made of) for a further +40 luck or to boost an item's existing Luck up to 140.
Certain items, like the Hollow-infused weapon can also be crafted to increase the damage of any skill that is able to deal damage by 5percent. These items are available at the store or crafted using the right ingredients.
Item Failure
Upgrades to items can be expensive and not all upgrades will succeed. However, there are cash shop items that allow players to boost their chance of success or stop them from losing an item in the event that the upgrade is unsuccessful.
The success rate of an upgrade can be seen in the Honing UI. The percentage represents the likelihood of successful upgrading an item. This can be increased by using Additional Materials or Special materials. There are limitations to the extent to which success rates can be increased, and the overall chance of an upgrade failing can't be greater than 100%..
The performance of an upgrades is also influenced by the luck of the item. All items have an average success rate of 25 percent, and each item that has Luck increases this chance by 5%.
The upgrade overlays of the item are rendered above items in the inventory. This can obscure enchantment effects and other effects. If you wish to disable the upgrade overlays, the config option decoration.renderUpgradeOverlays can be set to False in the Item Upgrader CORE client config.
