Guild Wars 2 Item Upgrade
The statistics of an item are improved by upgrading it, also known as "upping". Each upgrade increment boosts the stats linearly.
Players can recycle six items at a time to get a gauge of the upgraded component of each item. The cost of recycling items increases according to their rarity and level.
Upgrade components
A level upgrade in Guild Wars 2 is a process that can boost the stats of your weapon and armor. This can be accomplished in a variety of ways, including by using upgrade components or by increasing the rarity of an item or its mark level. A lot of items can be reforged to increase their stats.
Upgradeable items can be found in the game, both within the world and as rewards for missions. They can also be created by players. Upgrade components are the primary method to upgrade equipment. The upper-right corner displays the amount of upgrade components required for a particular item. The cost of an upgrade increases depending on the upgrade level and rarity, however it can be reduced using many different methods, including purchasing upgrades from a retailer or trading them to other players.
Most weapons can be improved with a prefix, like a rune or an insignia, and others can be enhanced with the suffix. These upgrades alter the name of the item and add an adjective, for example "Radiant" or "Minor Vigor. There are some exceptions, however. the non-inscribable wands, the shields and foci from Prophecies and Factions campaigns, that cannot be upgraded using any kinds of mods.
Glyphs

item upgrades increases the value of a stat by a specific amount. This is clearly displayed on the item, when you open it in the Glyph Storage. This is the maximum value that the glyph can improve a stat by but not the amount it actually increases it by. The value of the glyph is contingent on the tier as well as the quality of the item that you are enchanting.
The majority of upgrade components that are slotted into items are not able to be repaired or replaced without dismantling the equipment in question, unless it is legendary equipment and upgrades. If you have a rune or glyph you don't want to use but it hasn't been applied to the gear yet, you can transfer the item to a different piece by selecting the Upgrade Glyphs menu on the Glyphs Panel. This will create a new Glyph Set with the selected glyph.
If you are looking to remove a glyph from an item you must salvage it with the help of a Black Lion Salvage Kit or Ascended Salvage Tool. The item on which the glyph is placed will be destroyed, however the upgraded item can be retrieved by removing the glyph fragments.
When you take away an item after adding a glyph, the shards of the glyph will vanish. You can also add a glyph to your equipment to give it an additional benefit. For instance, the glyph Deferred Damage can store damage for the wearer and deal it slowly rather than all at once. Reroll tokens
Reroll tokens can be used to change the affixes that are placed on weapons and other equipment. Reroll tokens are also a great method to reroll the stats of a weapon, which can be upgraded to increase damage or perks.
Rerolled items don't appear on the menu for upgrade options, however they can still be upgraded. If you click the "upgrade button", you can recycle the recycled items. This will alter the appearance of the window for the item and let up to six items be selected to recycle. The level gauge is boosted by recycling an item. This amount is determined by the rarity of the item and its level, which means items with higher levels are more useful to recycle than lower-level ones.

The developers have no plans to introduce paid rerolls at this point in the game's development. They are planning to add an ingredient that allows players to change their race in the near future.
Leveling
There are a number of ways to boost the value of an upgrade to an item. The first way to level up an upgrade for an item is by increasing the upgrade amount. This increases the upgrade value for any stat. The second option is to increase the effect of an upgrade, which boosts the healing or damage for an individual stat. Additionally you have the option to upgrade the base item to a more powerful upgrade type. The new item will retain its iLevel but have the upgraded effects of the upgraded item.

The iLevel also changes depending on the item's upgrade path and its base level. For instance the weapon that has been upgraded from a rare or unique item to an extraordinary item will be able to get the Enhanced Defense of the base item type.
